Pan-Seared Steak

Cooking steak might seem intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be. This recipe calls for the tried-and-true pan-searing method, using a cast iron skillet to achieve an evenly distributed heat. The quick-searing helps to retain the juices while basting it with butter, garlic, and rosemary adds a rich, aromatic touch. Perfect for a cozy dinner for one or a romantic meal for two, this pan-seared steak brings the steakhouse experience right to your home kitchen.

Ingredients:

  • 1 sirloin steak
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs

Directions:

  1. Season the sirloin steak with salt and pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat a cast iron skillet over medium-high heat, add the oil, and let it get hot.
  3. Add the steak and sear for 2-3 minutes on each side or until a crust forms.
  4. Lower the heat to medium and add butter, garlic, and rosemary sprigs to the skillet.
  5. Tilt the skillet and use a spoon to continuously baste the steak with the butter for about 1-2 minutes.
  6. Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for 5 minutes before cutting into it to allow the juices to redistribute.
